Dear
parents and students,
Once again, there wasn't a need for a Winter edition of the newsletter... and here we are, Spring Break 2015!
Classes continue through Spring Break, so do come in to practice if you're in town.
As we go into the March/April cycle, please note that there are no classes:
for Maundy Thursday (2 April), Good Friday (3 April), Holy Saturday (4 April), and Easter Monday (6 April).
Congratulations to students who just completed their grade level test in February. It is always inspiring to see the potential in our students. I am already impressed that our young students have persevered in their aikido practice. Aikido is not an easy art to understand and practice. Well done! The certificates and belts will be presented this week. Do please bring your camera to capture the moment.
Please also note that I have been sent a third request from the programme manager at Gordon Head Recreation to remind parents and students that unregistered students are not permitted to attend classes due to liability and insurance issues. They request that parents and students please be prompt in their re-registration ahead of each eight-class cycle. We appreciate your understanding in this. This does not affect year-long registrants.
This year, the annual aikido demonstration and potluck will be held on Saturday 13 June from 10am at the Bert Richman Building. Do mark that on your calendar for a morning of aikido demonstrations and food. Always a wonderful way to end the academic year.
SUMMER:
Unfortunately, we will not be having regular classes through July this year.
However, there will be a week-long Aikido Warriors' Camp in August, from Monday 17 to Friday 21 August, 9am to 4pm.
As always, thank you for informing me when you are unable to make it for class. Do also inform me when you would like to come for make-up classes so I'll be able to prepare a class suitable for students through diverse grade levels; especially in the beginner classes.
Do also ensure that your enrolment is current. The class information and times are on Ueshiba Aikido website.
I have also just published a new book "Basic Steps To Aikido". You can view the cover on the Notices page.
Here is the link, for your convenience: Notices
The class calendar is available for you to print out and display: 2014/2015
Do visit our website (or FaceBook pages) and check our Notices for information and updates. To
keep our database current, please inform us if you have a change
of address, new email, or new contact numbers. If you have
any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
As always, thank you for your support, interest, and dedication. There is no dojo without you.
Have a most glorious Spring.
See
you in the Dojo.
With
peace and harmony,
Rafael Oei Sensei.
