Dear parents and students,

A warm welcome to all new students and families to our Dojo!
Fall is such a beautiful season, the rain and leaf raking notwithstanding... transformations and the promise of change and renewal...

A milestone this year was our first trip to Aikikai Hombu Dojo in Japan, and it is also our 10th anniversary - ten years of Aikido practice in Victoria BC under Ueshiba Aikido. What a wonderful celebration we had at our Annual Potluck on Saturday June 14. If you missed it, here are the photos.

With the year already underway, to help students remember the class schedules, here is the 2014/15 calendar that you may want to display on the wall, or place on your refridgerator door. On it are the dates of classes, the Grading Test Weeks, the breaks and holidays. I hope that will help. Click on the link below, or copy it into the address field, for the calendar.

The new cycle is upon us, beginning the last week of October through to December and the Christmas/New Year break. If you haven't registered for the Oct/Dec cycle yet, please do so at the recreation centre.

Students, please be reminded that as soon as you enter the Dojo, sit quietly or speak in a soft-indoor voice. Running around in the Dojo before or after class is not permitted. Do go to the washroom before class begins as no one is allowed to leave the mats during classes. After class, do remember to take your Progress (Kyu) Card, jacket and your belongings with you, especially now that it is getting chillier.

Please do not take photographs during classes unless permission has been granted by sensei, or by Mrs. Oei if the class has already begun. Your understanding in this is appreciated. If you arrive at the door and sensei is speaking to the seated students, please do not enter the dojo as that distracts the students.

Hombu Dojo Trip

Our next proposed and intended trip to Aikikai Hombu Dojo will be in May 2016. If you wish to contribute to our "Trip to Hombu Dojo Fund", be reminded that we have an account with the Bottle Depot. Just say it is for "Ueshiba Aikido" or account 388. At the moment, the fund stands at $58. Thank you for your generous contributions.
