"Enter - Blend - Control"

Morihei Ueshiba O Sensei

These three shapes figure prominently in the teachings of O Sensei. It is part of the Aikido cosmology that represents the fundamental principles of entering, blending and controlling. O Sensei also explained it as representing "Initiative, Unification, and Form." If you look carefully, the three shapes are in the Ueshiba Aikido (Victoria) logo as well.

As you reflect on the symbols (shapes), think about how it applies to your understanding and execution of Aikido techniques.

Applying these principles to your daily life, it can be a formula for proper behaviour and blending in your work or school environment.

When faced with a challenge or an "attacking" force (e.g. negative energy), "enter" (the Triangle) the situation by avoiding conflict or a head-on clash. It is more Receiving in a blended way. Once calmly in the situation, you will have the presence of mind to Respond accordingly (the Circle). When responding appropriately, you would be able to Resolve and "control" the situation (the Square).

So, when faced with potential conflicts, be open and listen first in order to take the "initiative" - Receive. To "unify" with a clear mind, Respond appropriately. You will then be able to re-establish stability in "form" - Resolving the situation.

In harmony
